Our sail-expeditions are unique and engaging. We refer to our multi-day programs as “backcountry sailing” because our Presto 30, Thorfinn, is a relatively small, high- performance “camp style” vessel. It is more of a spartan sports car than a yacht and more luxurious than a tent. Thorfinn has the ability to explore in only a few inches of water, and it's easy to sail—allowing our participants to be intimately involved with all aspects of our adventure. All of our multi-day trips can combine adventure travel with technical skill instruction. Whether you are an experienced sailor or a novice, we can provide you with an excellent outdoor experience.

With Thorfinn you can choose a pre-designed multi-day expedition—great for individuals who want to explore with a group of like-minded participants—or custom trips, which we co-create with you to satisfy your goals and desires.

Overnight or Multi-day Programs

Overnight Charter — 1.5-2 days of sailing, spend the night either aboard, camping ashore, or in a coastal inn

Circumnavigate Vinalhaven and North Haven Islands. Spend the night aboard surrounded by islands and wildlife.
Sail to Warren Island State Park, camp ashore, and sail home the next day. Includes time to explore various harbors and islands.
Cross both West and East Penobscot Bays and explore the spectacular Merchants Row Island group off of Stonington.
Sail to Monhegan Island, stay ashore and hike above the sea cliffs. The following day, sail home.

From three hours to a full day, you will enjoy an experience that takes you out of your everyday life. Sail to an island, picnic and explore. Here, even a few hours with the sun, the wind, the water and the sky can refresh and recharge like nothing else.

Our Boat

Our program is built around a unique expedition sail vessel, a Presto 30 named Thorfinn. The Presto 30 is a high-performance boat designed and built for adventure and safety. From its Kevlar bottom to its carbon fiber masts, a Presto 30 is outfitted with safety equipment and an unsinkable design. The vessel's hull is 30 feet long and can access any body of water with a depth of more than a foot.
